Food Photo Purge - Sick Trays and Such

My sweet Babe has been sick off and on for the past couple of weeks. Fever, congestion, cough...ick! Well we thought she was feeling better until we got the call from camp that she had a fever.  The policy is that the child can't return until they have been fever free without meds for 24 hours.

I am still trying to perfect my pork loin game. *Sigh*

It was tressed up all nicely!

Seared on all sides

Roasted so beautifully!

It was even plated nicely.

The maple glaze was divine BUT it was still not tender enough for me.  I am going to holla at the pork board. I have tried everything to make my pork loin moist and tender and these darn loins are winning! *Raises fist and shakes angrily*

Friday Food Randoms

Am I the only one that avoids reading labels of stuff I REALLY like so the lack of ingredients won’t stop me from drinking/eating it? I mean what the heck is “tea essence” *throws faux tea in the trash*

WuDaMan reminded me on ‘The Twittah’ that I hadn’t used a hickory smoked salt I purchased a while ago; getting on that this weekend. I’m going to marinate some chicken with it along with some olive oil, pepper and a little bit of fresh garlic; then smoke it over some hickory wood…chile please!

I have a catering gig in August that I am prepping for. I can barely contain the level of excitement this is bringing me. #TotallyStokedDude

This dark chocolate ice cream I will be churning this weekend is going to be so good I may have to hide it from the ice cream bandits

As much as I LOVE eating out, B will forgo a restaurant meal if I will cook for her. That is super funny to me.

B is proud that she has not eaten at Mc.Donalds in well over a year. Their pink ‘meat’ sufficiently grossed her out.

We will never give up Chik.Fila though. I don’t care what color their meat turns out to be.

I am revisiting my house party ideas. I'd written some themes a couple of years ago...time to put them into action. A tasting a quarter sounds good

Group. On and Living.Social gon have me eating all over the city with their delightful deals for the low!

With the exception of one or two people, I did not have real friends until I was in my late 20s early 30s. I have THE BEST people in my life right now. The support and encouragement they give me is just amazing. My constant prayer is that I am as good to them as they are to me.

My family? Goes hard in the paint.

Ever since B found out her pen pal goes on birthday vacations she has been lobbying hard for one this year. Momma is gonna try making NYC in October a reality for her. She said she would skip a party and no gifts for a few days in NYC. We even have a tour guide already!

What are y’all having for dinner tonight? Going out to eat? Where?

Have a wonderful weekend

Now Churning: Tropical Fruit Sorbet

I love a good sorbet. Passionfruit, lemon, lime...whatever.  I don't make them nearly as often as I would like cause the folks in my house LOVE ice cream.  I got the recipe from here.

This was good but I used too much banana and it ended up tasting like banana sorbet. I had the perfect over-riped bananas and I did not want those jokas to go to waste! When I make it next I will use less banana and see if I like it better. That picture is of the last bowl because these greedy folks in my house love a cold, creamy treat!

Taco/Chili Seasoning

The more I read labels, the more I want to eat cleaner. While this may not be a true clean recipe, it doesnt have artificial anything. Plus you can adjust it to your tastes!

If you want to make a hot taco/chili seasoning add 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

Taco/Chili Seasoning
Makes about 2/3 cup

What you need:
  • 3 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper

What to do:
In a small bowl combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container at room temperature.

I usually add about two tablespoons of seasoning per pound of turkey/ground beef and adjust from there.

Tag I'm It

Since I am busy prepping for a catering gig for this weekend, my post will be random as heck until I can get on the good foot!

This Tag has been floating across blogs I read so I decided to share a bit. Thanks BeautifullyComplex for the tag!

The rules: list 7 Random Things about Yourself and answer some questions.

I LOVE a good party. Hanging out with me gaurantees a good time. Whether we are in a club, at the movies or sipping drinks in the family room

I don't wear colored polish because I cook so much. When I am cooking for other people I don't even wear clear.

Clean makes me soooooo happy...Organization feeds my OCD tendecies

Friday Food Randoms

Hey y'all!!!
I LOVE the trend of people getting back to ‘old school’ stuff like sewing and crafting and cooking meals at home

I received a sewing machine a couple of years ago for my “Birthmas” and I have used it maybe twice. I bought a gang of fabric and thread and patterns because I was going to sew skirts for me and Amaya. What had happened was…

I need like two extra rooms in my house.

I think I am ready to build in my dream subdivision and rent my current home but my God speak (intuition, gut) is telling me to “Sat down somewhere. It’s not time”

How does one become a professional organizer? This is a serious question. My cousin would KILL as a pro organizer. I keep telling her she needs to take her skills on the road and make some extra loot for all those bags she likes to purchase!

When I decide to take on a trainer to sculpt my body the way I want…she will need to be kind of a jerk. I respond better to authoritative motivation.

I tried a recipe for Cream Cheese Cookies *gag*. I wasted my good vanilla bean paste on those bland cookies. Just a waste

I have been a cookie baking fool as of late. I will bake and ship my last free batch Monday.

I am making a Lemonade Cake this weekend for Sunday dinner…I can bake ONE cake from scratch really well. I need to get my cake baking skills up, the holidays are coming.

I hate non stick bake ware.

I purchase as much stuff as I can from restaurant supply stores. The quality is waaaay better than big box retailers and it is usually cheaper and you don’t have to purchase in bulk.

I have like 15 posts saved that I need to tweak, add photos to and schedule for posting.

Am I the only person that will bash a bowl of good soup in the middle of summer? Oh. OK.

Pinterest is every single thing! I love that joint. Holla, at me if you want an invite. Not sure how long they will be doing the “By Invitation Only” thing

Salmon Avocado BLT are on my menu for next week. I LOVE me some avocado. I will cut one open, pit it and eat it with a spoon.

Fresh squeezed lemonade is my favorite non-alcoholic beverage. But it always tastes better with a splash of vodka or rum…just sayin

Big Krit’s ‘Country Ish” is in heavy rotation round these parts...the remix with Luda is bangin.

Why do I let my friends and friends in my head influence me? Answer me that??

Some of the women I follow on Twitter/Blogs I read have been banging out Triathlons. Sooooooooo effing proud of them!

Well, my girlfriend and I will be training for a Triathlon. Swim Bike Run. We can’t swim, she hates the triathlon bike (she was going to do an MS Bike a few years ago) and we have not been on a proper running regimen in a bit. Pray for us hear?? I mean call on His mighty name for us. I think we are going to do a 5k this fall to get us in the swing of things. I’m going to sign up for swimming lessons at the Y. I will def keep y’all posted on that.

I need to figure out how to combine both of my Twitter accounts under a new name. Guess I need to send a message to Twitter huh? Or do a Google search

Google is the Oracle

What do you have up for the weekend??
