FRIDAY FOOD RANDOMS

Several weeks ago I made pot stickers...the pictures were poor and the pot stickers didn't last long! LOL

Sometimes these food people in an effort to be different…do too much. IMO of course

Some of the food photos I see are just AMAZING!

That broth was soooo good! I got it for like 50 cents at Big Lots. It was perfect with the pot stickers

My garden was a bust this year, not even my potted herbs grew #DeadThumb…well the raised garden grew some but that dumb dog thought it would be fun if he jumped in it to get a better view into the kitchen when he is outside.

I watched this documentary a couple of weeks ago on Net.flix. Seriously considering juicing for five days…if nothing else I will be regular…LOL #TeamMicroNutrients

The juicer is $300 O_O. Any of you guys ever juice?

I have high blood pressure. Years ago, I started with 3-4 different pills…with exercise and weight loss I am down to one pill; trying to get down to zero pills by my birthday in December…but man have I fallen off the wagon *dusts self off and gets back on*

I hate wasting butter on a bad recipe. It really burns my britches. Butter ain’t cheap for as much as I use in any given week

I always say I am not a baker but I sure have been a baking fool as of late

I need to learn to cook with yeast. Have no idea why it intimidates me so. I would give fresh baked bread away as gifts #BreadMakingFewl

Want a simple guilt free dessert, grill some fruit and drizzle with honey or caramel. Nothing but decadence! Or poach some peeled and thickly sliced pears in cinnamon water and drizzle with maple syrup or honey or caramel….have mercy!

My cousin loaned me her brand new pasta maker that she’s had for five or so years…never used! *rubs hands together* Can you even imagine the amount of flour and eggs that will be used in the coming weeks? I mean seriously!

I love pretty looking food. If food looks gross on a plate/bowl/pot, I don’t care how good it is, I won’t try it. I’m good with my weirdness…lolol

Smoked salmon quesadillas…popped in my head, would be heaven with the right cheese and smoked vegetable

If there is a popular cooking method/ingredient going around, I will purposely NOT cook it or use it…not a fan of following trends.

What are y’all eating tonight? Going out to eat? Where to? Me = nosy! LOL

Have a grand weekend!

Friday Food Randoms

Am I the only one that avoids reading labels of stuff I REALLY like so the lack of ingredients won’t stop me from drinking/eating it? I mean what the heck is “tea essence” *throws faux tea in the trash*

WuDaMan reminded me on ‘The Twittah’ that I hadn’t used a hickory smoked salt I purchased a while ago; getting on that this weekend. I’m going to marinate some chicken with it along with some olive oil, pepper and a little bit of fresh garlic; then smoke it over some hickory wood…chile please!

I have a catering gig in August that I am prepping for. I can barely contain the level of excitement this is bringing me. #TotallyStokedDude

This dark chocolate ice cream I will be churning this weekend is going to be so good I may have to hide it from the ice cream bandits

As much as I LOVE eating out, B will forgo a restaurant meal if I will cook for her. That is super funny to me.

B is proud that she has not eaten at Mc.Donalds in well over a year. Their pink ‘meat’ sufficiently grossed her out.

We will never give up Chik.Fila though. I don’t care what color their meat turns out to be.

I am revisiting my house party ideas. I'd written some themes a couple of years ago...time to put them into action. A tasting a quarter sounds good

Group. On and Living.Social gon have me eating all over the city with their delightful deals for the low!

With the exception of one or two people, I did not have real friends until I was in my late 20s early 30s. I have THE BEST people in my life right now. The support and encouragement they give me is just amazing. My constant prayer is that I am as good to them as they are to me.

My family? Goes hard in the paint.

Ever since B found out her pen pal goes on birthday vacations she has been lobbying hard for one this year. Momma is gonna try making NYC in October a reality for her. She said she would skip a party and no gifts for a few days in NYC. We even have a tour guide already!

What are y’all having for dinner tonight? Going out to eat? Where?

Have a wonderful weekend

Friday Food Randoms

Hey y'all!!!
I LOVE the trend of people getting back to ‘old school’ stuff like sewing and crafting and cooking meals at home

I received a sewing machine a couple of years ago for my “Birthmas” and I have used it maybe twice. I bought a gang of fabric and thread and patterns because I was going to sew skirts for me and Amaya. What had happened was…

I need like two extra rooms in my house.

I think I am ready to build in my dream subdivision and rent my current home but my God speak (intuition, gut) is telling me to “Sat down somewhere. It’s not time”

How does one become a professional organizer? This is a serious question. My cousin would KILL as a pro organizer. I keep telling her she needs to take her skills on the road and make some extra loot for all those bags she likes to purchase!

When I decide to take on a trainer to sculpt my body the way I want…she will need to be kind of a jerk. I respond better to authoritative motivation.

I tried a recipe for Cream Cheese Cookies *gag*. I wasted my good vanilla bean paste on those bland cookies. Just a waste

I have been a cookie baking fool as of late. I will bake and ship my last free batch Monday.

I am making a Lemonade Cake this weekend for Sunday dinner…I can bake ONE cake from scratch really well. I need to get my cake baking skills up, the holidays are coming.

I hate non stick bake ware.

I purchase as much stuff as I can from restaurant supply stores. The quality is waaaay better than big box retailers and it is usually cheaper and you don’t have to purchase in bulk.

I have like 15 posts saved that I need to tweak, add photos to and schedule for posting.

Am I the only person that will bash a bowl of good soup in the middle of summer? Oh. OK.

Pinterest is every single thing! I love that joint. Holla, at me if you want an invite. Not sure how long they will be doing the “By Invitation Only” thing

Salmon Avocado BLT are on my menu for next week. I LOVE me some avocado. I will cut one open, pit it and eat it with a spoon.

Fresh squeezed lemonade is my favorite non-alcoholic beverage. But it always tastes better with a splash of vodka or rum…just sayin

Big Krit’s ‘Country Ish” is in heavy rotation round these parts...the remix with Luda is bangin.

Why do I let my friends and friends in my head influence me? Answer me that??

Some of the women I follow on Twitter/Blogs I read have been banging out Triathlons. Sooooooooo effing proud of them!

Well, my girlfriend and I will be training for a Triathlon. Swim Bike Run. We can’t swim, she hates the triathlon bike (she was going to do an MS Bike a few years ago) and we have not been on a proper running regimen in a bit. Pray for us hear?? I mean call on His mighty name for us. I think we are going to do a 5k this fall to get us in the swing of things. I’m going to sign up for swimming lessons at the Y. I will def keep y’all posted on that.

I need to figure out how to combine both of my Twitter accounts under a new name. Guess I need to send a message to Twitter huh? Or do a Google search

Google is the Oracle

What do you have up for the weekend??

Friday Food Randoms - Video Blog Style

It look like somebody socked me in the eye! LOL

My facial expressions slay me...good night! My eyes keep doing the crazy roll *sigh*

One day my video blogs gonna be flawless!

I hate how the sound and my mouth don't match

See how I do? I didnt say one good thing about how awesome my hair looked. How cute I am. Or how I was fairly articulate...noooooo I focused on what I want to correct.

*sigh*

Y'all have a wonderful weekend OK?!!!

Friday Food Randoms - Wings and Herbs

This was dinner one night last week. I love a fried chicken "wang". When Babe's friends stay the night, they don't just want pizza. Nooooo, "Ms. Tarsha could you please make some of your chicken wings?"

The salad was sooooo good. I am not a big ranch eater but I made this one homemade with tarragon as the main herb. Good choice! I added some Gorgonzola crumbles and avocado (cause y'all know I don't eat a salad without it), golden tomatoes and real deal bacon pieces. Yessir!

Babe: BFF and her family eat pretend bacon bits (Bac.os), that's a shame.

My sweetie and I are also trying our hands at planting herbs again. We started some last year but they didn't make it *shrug* Alas, we keep trying. One day we gon grow a whole yard full of vegetables and herbs! #WishfulThinking

She stays in that BEP t-shirt, it's her favorite and she is a Stan *smh*

Have a great weekend!

Saturday Food Randoms

Whatchall doing today??

It is a gorgeous day so far in Houston! I just completed half of my homework and can't wait to hit these streets!

Babe had a sleepover with her bestie last night. Those girls can talk and talk and talk!

Those little girls eat like men I tell you! I made a pan of homemade biscuits and there are two left. E only had one and I didn't eat any! #Piglets

We are going to Babe's school carnival today. Can't wait to have a smoked turkey leg! Then that socialite kid of mine has a movie date with the same bestie BUT it is not my turn to take them! SCORE! They're going to see Hop.

While Babe is gone, E and I have a cupcake date! We are going to check out this cupcake shop that recently opened around our way.

I've been in a Cajun food mood lately. I had some etouffe a couple of weeks ago that was so good I am still thinking about it!  I'm gonna make some today.

Do y'all use chicken organs when making your dirty rice? I know it is authentic but...it's organ meat...lol

I mailed some thank you cookies to the sweetest Diva in the A! Now my oldest wants some mailed to her in Ohio! lol

I made a lemon tart that touched my spirit this week!  The crust was unconventional and SO easy. I am going to make another one this weekend so I can post it. It was a real deal Tarte au Citron!

I am in the beginning stages of blog refreshing/name change, etc...sooooo effing excited about it

Part of the whole mastering my fear philosophy for 2011.

Oooooooh, I went to the culinary schools open house. I was SUPER DUPER excited about it until I went back for my one on one and they showed me the price tag! O_O. I could start my catering company with the money it would cost for only 1.5 years of school.

I am sure I am not willing to go into debt to go to school again.  I still got undergrad loans to pay off! LOL

While I pray on that, I will be taking food business courses over the summer at the same community college I am taking my CPA courses. Cheaper and close to home!

Alright, time to hit these streets! Have a great day!!

Friday Food Randoms

That picture up there? Me growing squash...from seeds!!! FTW!!

We eat enough spinach such that I want to attempt that next...baby steps!

E's BIL is going to build me a raised garden bed! His requested payment? His own pot of Jambalaya. LOL

I miss updating more often but I am busy with school for the next five weeks *head. desk.

I have some awesome opportunities on the horizon, will share later maybe

I love how things work out when you are walking hand in hand with God down HIS path for you

My web designer must be the Patron Saint of Patience!  I am sure every time she gets an email from me she shakes her fist at the screen! LOL...love you Nic!

I love bacon

To eliminate some of the sodium on bacon, I rinse it before cooking

I always have boiled eggs in the fridge; healthy snack option...I'm country so I eat mine with a sprinkle of salt, pepper and cayenne

Am I the only one stockpiling "scrimps" and other seafood just in case?

I typically buy fresh seasonal fruits and freeze them.  They are cheap when they are in season so I stock up. Same with vegetables.

A salad spinner is your friend when drying leafy vegetables; I even use it for drying other vegetables before freezing

Pitting cherries is the pits! Get it...LOL!  Babe and I pitted about two pounds last weekend.  We made mango cherry smoothies, ate some while pitting and froze the rest.

Fresh cherries are expensive hell!!!

I made a white wine foiled baked salmon last week...*faint*
Have a great weekend!
